(Right now, Amazon is clearing out its warehouse store and offering incredible "fire sale" deals on this book. Check it out; they won't last.)
The categories judged were: Structure, Organization and Pacing; Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar; and Production Quality and Cover Design. It’s nice to get
a pat on the back for the careful work that we put into the creation of her book.
Here are a few excerpts from the judge’s commentaries.
“I really loved this author’s voice … these daily doses of meditative reflections offer sensory/sensitive feedback persuasive to healing and wholeness … I liked King's desire for her readers to be alert and excited by the life around them."
"The formatting is very interesting, alternating between justified and centered. That,
in itself, is a message to the reader. I liked that each day of the year has three reflections … The last is always titled “Bring it to Life!” It offers a suggestion or question that will resonate with readers, and sometimes work as catharsis. King makes very useful suggestions. I liked the cover picture of a flower and the background color blue, conducive to calm.”
“The packaging is very professional. The colorful front cover drew my attention immediately. The back cover copy is well written and does a good job of marketing the book to your potential audience. You have some great testimonials that you highlight well. This book should have a wide potential readership, including those interested in inspiration, meditation, self-help, poetry, etc., and it makes a great gift book.
The book is well organized. I particularly appreciated the book’s non-denominational spirituality and conversational, non-preachy writing style … I like the blending of short prose and poetry, of advice, questions and inspiration. I like the quotations at the top of each entry.
The formatting of the interior of the book is very effective. Normally I tell writers not to use all caps but the limited use as headings here is well done. Good job with grammar and proofreading. You have an excellent web site and blog that do a great job of cross-promoting your writing portfolio and other activities.”
Working with Starla was a real pleasure. AND, right now, Amazon is clearing out its warehouse and offering GREAT deals on this book. Check it out; they won't last.
